Our Story

Radio GAIA started to broadcast online music for relaxation, meditation, lounge, chill-out, etc. We were initially listened by a few dozens of people, our friends and the friends of our friends. We had a list back then with staff to do to grow up into a authentic and credible online station, but to little time to do at list one thing. Eduard wanted to broadcast more than music. We both were attracted to the idea of meditation and personal development programs adapted for radio. We were surrounded by people who wanted to meditate, or just relax listening to music. And he did some recordings of positive statements and meditation with some friends we had. Also, he started to do live radio broadcasts with a mixer barrow from a friend, and the cheapest mic that he could find.

This was the moment of real involvement in the project from both of us, and we decided to give a real chance to this dream by investing time and other resources to reach more people. After an event attended by me and Eduard, I realized that I want to contribute more, and I come with what I had: a background in journalism and advertising, which proved to be very useful for what we wanted to do next. Eduard, also my partner, was delighted that finally got someone in the radio team. And this is the point from which all began. We started with personal development podcasts, live events, 2-4 hours per day, and for the rest of the program, we had the same music. We gathered in the team 12 trainers and personal development coaches for weekly programs and many more for occasionally podcasts. The challenge was to learn how to get back live, as fast as possible, in that times when we were in the middle of a podcast and internet was shutting down, or the computer stop working suddenly — without losing the audience. We were present at some annual national fairs and events, also organized retreats for small groups of people in Romania and Greece. At the beginning of this period, our first jingles and commercials had appeared. I remember the joy of having our own slogan: “The planet have it own music, if you know how to listen”. A few hundred people start to enjoy the radio, mostly from Romania, because all programs were in Romanian language.

We return to the idea of broadcasting exclusively music, based on audience expectations, but also because we did not organize our activities efficiently. We wanted more playlists, more music genres, and less talking. The idea of music and events was brilliant, but not mixed with personal development and traveling, all together, on the same radio platform. Romanian language was a limitation too. The 4 extensions, with different music genres, appeared already from years before, but in 2018 we returned to the idea of broadcasting only music without advertising. More people start to listen, from all over the world. And we name one of the extensions Relax and Travel, the one that people loved the most for the deep, relaxing rhythms. This, in the name of love for both: music and traveling. Only Eduard and I remained in the project like in the beginning, but we did not invest anything in this anymore, for lack of time and energy mostly, and the pandemic probably influenced this lack of involvement and inspiration.

But the hard times were over — hope so, and we start to dream again, and make a plan. Got new team, new ideas, and fresh energy. We launched the new radio and business Radio GAIA, which kept free niche music, and came up with a lot more playlists that brings more options for you.
